The Senate's Rube Goldbergian immigration scheme

The latest scheme from the Senate involves a horrendously complicated series of tiers: illegal aliens here more than five years would be given amnesty, illegal aliens here less than five years but more than two years would need to go to a port of entry to get their amnesty, those here less than that time would need to stay here for another three years to get their amnesty, new illegal aliens would need to wait in line for five years to get their amnesty, legal immigrants who've been waiting for their amnesty will go to Secaucus and pick up a token which they'll take to an apothecariast in Piscataway who will then stamp it and send them to be processed in Paraguay, and on and on and on.

I hate to laugh, because their sellout of our country is not funny in the least.

Heard a great description of them: Republicans are just socialists with Bibles.

The current crop of "republicans" are anything but. And you want to see socialist dominance, one need look no further than our current President and his allies in Congress. Medicare expansions, NCLB, open borders, the list goes on.

Face it we have no one who represents us.

Looks like we are between a rock and a hard place. Conservatives have to stay with the Republicans to counter the socialist dominance of the Democrat party. But what do we do when President Bush teams with Ted Kennedy to futher nationalize education? What do we do when John McCain and President Bush are the strongest supporters of Kennedy's open borders/blanket amnesty policies?
What do we do when it looks like more and more open borders/blanket amnesty and eventual citizenship & voting for millions and millions of illegal immigrants entering the US in greater and greater numbers? How many millions of new illegal alien voters would it take to turn the red states blue?

Per news reports it's being offered by Senate Republicans, the childish asses.

That being the case, it's hard to see much hope at this point; the most reasonable best outcome would seem to be some kind of stalemate, maybe a filibuster. No enforcement only bill.

Well, dchamil, since the fraud rate in the great one-time-only amnesty of 1986 is estimated to be 70%, I'd say chances are pretty good that a lot of folks will not only declare that they have been here the 5 years but also will produce "legal" documents to prove it. Some of these folks might not have even left their own country yet.

Gosh, do you suppose anyone might falsely declare he had been here more than five years, just to get amnesty?
