Nancy Pelosi: no "path to citizenship" for illegal aliens might be compromise

I missed this when it first came out in late October 2008, but an unrelated Associated Press article contained the following suggestion from Nancy Pelosi (link):
Pelosi also said Congress would have to tackle the politically sticky job of overhauling immigration laws in the new Congress, after a bipartisan measure collapsed last year.

The estimated 12 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally "are part of the U.S. economy. We cannot send them all home, and we cannot send them all to jail, so we have to address it," Pelosi said.

Any solution would have to be bipartisan, she said, so it may require sacrificing some of Democrats' past priorities, such as giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.

"Maybe there never is a path to citizenship if you came here illegally," Pelosi said. "I would hope that there could be, but maybe there isn't."
This might have just been pre-election posturing of some unknown kind, or she might actually have meant it. But, it would be good to see the far-left split from the San Francisco "liberal" crowd as exemplified by Pelosi.

_She's full of shit._ Absolutely. What a disgrace and how disgusting is it for the US to have such a mediocre zero as Speaker.

"We cannot send them all home, and we cannot send them all to jail, so we have to address it," Pelosi said. Yikes! I am so sick of hearing how we "can't send them all home". We don't have to "send" them anywhere. Make E-Verify mandatory and they'll go home on their own. It's like reading that the sun revolves around the earth. It's been proven wrong so many times and for such a long time that it would be almost comical if it weren't so infuriating.

listen people the other side has us all by the balls and its over, over here.
