Devona Walker/NewsOK sells dire consequences of no-match; illegal aliens leaving Oklahoma?

Devona Walker of NewsOK offers the stock "Immigration crackdown called devastating to economy" about illegal aliens apparently leaving Oklahoma because of a new law (two other examples here). She brings on two people to paint a dire picture of economic disaster. Oddly enough, both are Hispanic and profit from the presence of large numbers of Hispanics, legal or illegal. Odd! She also brings on Tamar Jacoby.

Then, she offers what appears to be an intentional attempt to deceive:
Even those here lawfully feel they are being targeted.

"It makes them feel like, 'I'm not wanted here,'" [a Hispanic restaurant owner] added.

Randy Terrill, R-Moore, co-sponsored Oklahoma's own immigration enforcement legislation - largely considered one of the toughest in the nation - set to go into effect Nov. 1.

For him, that's the point.

"We are talking about people who have entered this country illegally, and are now making demands for rights, specifically the right to pursue employment, for which they are not eligible," Terrill said.
Terrill says it only deals with illegal immigration, but the first and fourth paragraphs above will give the reader the false impression that he's targeting legal immigrants as well.

If you're here illegally, no, you're not wanted here. Likewise if you support the invasion. Just so there's no misunderstanding: Go home. Take your invader babies and foreign flags and mobs and crime and crowding and threats with you. If you're legal and consciously profit from the invasion you're a traitor and deserve to be prosecuted and penalized.

I'd like to see TAMAR JACOBY begin waitressing in a slummy diner. I think it would teach her a lesson.

I love how quickly people forget where their fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers came from. This country would be a lot different if the military was guarding Ellis Island while thousands upon thousands of immigrants stared at confusion of the obvious conflicting statement of: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free!" If we're sending immigrants back to hispanic countries, we may as well send back everyone else who isn't 100% Native American because, by general consensus, they're the only ones who belong here. Open your eyes and stop being a method for Big Brother to come in and take away everything that you value as an American. In the long run, you're only hurting yourself.

Chase..according to you the world has stood still....Sorry WRONGO....The influx now is UNPRECEDENTED and like the flood that destroyed New Orleans this flood is about the destroy the country. Try looking at the facts instead of platitudes and liberal NONSENSE!

And who is busy rebuilding New Orleans? Oh, right. Immigrants.

Yep immigrants have STOLEN jobs from blacks and others in New Orleans because they will work for peanuts!! By the way Chase have you notced the crime wave in N.O. is worse than ever??? Must be the kind of America you desire....

Lawlessness provides anarchy. It has nothing to do with the race of the people living there. "Blacks and others"? I assume you are African-American yourself, as that's typically the only time someone can say such a racist term without being completely offensive. To remind you of what you said earlier, the world has not stood still. The civil rights movement of the sixties is long past, and I doubt those of mostly Creole heritage would appreciate being lumped into the blanket phrase, "blacks and others". Why should our Constitution that states that ALL people - no matter race, sex, or creed - are equal and given certain unalienable rights... suddenly change the wording to read, "All people that we deem worthy at the time"? As the Constitution of the United States has proved, both for the Civil Rights movement and for Suffrage, "liberty and justice for all" truly means for all. "Blacks" were considered less than every other human race in this country because they were slaves, (rather than immigrants), and yet were eventually given full equality under law. Women couldn't vote because it was generally assumed they couldn't think, and were good for nothing other than making babies, but finally made their voice heard. And now, the country sees the hispanic immigrant population as dirty criminals. It's all a matter of perspective. Perhaps, if I were to change my perspective to one that was more narrow-minded (as you seem to be), I could say that none of your opinions matter because you're a woman. Don't like it? Prejudice sucks. Every person in America has been discriminated against, fought for their rights, and come out on top. Why should this be any different? All you're doing now is paving the way for racist feelings amongst a vast ethnic group of hard-working family-oriented people who are vastly more valuable to this country than you can imagine. But, if people like you get your way, you'll soon see as prices everywhere are driven sky-high because the cheap labor force (that you likely take advantage of on a daily basis) is driven away and replaced by poorly educated and unmotivated Americans at twice the cost.

Chase, I think you are the one taking advantage of illegals and slave wages....By the way my reference to blacks in N.O was due to the FACT that some contractors who were black traveled to N.O. to work at a decent rate of pay. They were later told to go HOME because they had imported Illegal Mexicans who would work for much less...Get the picture?? By the way they were AMERICAN CITIZENS... (

Everyone in America is taking advantage of the cheap labor costs of illegals if they've ever purchased anything at all. Produce? Picked by immigrants. Meat? Sliced and packed by immigrants. Clothing? Crafted either by immigrants, or their six-year-old kids in their native countries for a penny an hour. A house? Built by immigrants. A meal in a restaurant? Cooked by immigrants, on dishes cleaned by immigrants, in a building serviced by immigrants, and occasionally served to your table by immigrants. Ever walked into an office building to enjoy the benefits of the white citizens working there? Their building was built by immigrants. Ever drive on a road that wasn't gravel? Constructed either by immigrants... or prison members. If you take away the immigrant labor force, you drive the prices of EVERYTHING way, way up. What an immigrant would do for minimum wage (or less, if paid off the books) will cost at least double if done by Americans who are better schooled and more inherently qualified for better jobs. You can put your fingers in your ears and sing "la, la, la" at the top of your lungs, but it won't change the fact that if you are living in America - no matter who you are - you're taking advantage of the immigrant labor force - legal or not. You just need to decide whether you are going to be hypocritical and racist about the benefits you enjoy, or if you're going to open your eyes to reality.

Chase, Bush is not allowing the country of origin to be placed on products--foood especially-IF he did he knows Americans would gladly pay more for these products. As Americans become more aware they are rejecting your SLAVE LABOR ....why not start doing that yourself . Or is hypocrisy the mainstay of your philosophy? We survived 200 years without these illegal and immigrant labor and we can do it again..Most of all we demand to do it again!

It seems as though I'm trying to reason with a brick wall that keeps contradicting itself. (1) Country of origin is placed on MANY products. Look at your t-shirt, it will probably say "Hecho en México/Made in Mexico" right on the tag. (2) Why does it have to be MY slave labor? Simply because I'm not blind to the fact that it exists doesn't mean that I am personally going to Mexico, rounding up villagers, and forcing them to work my sweat shops and fields for no compensation. I'm simply an American bank employee, aware of the world around me. (3) Americans aren't rejecting jack sh*t. The recent trend has been towards organic food items because they are healthier and contain less chemicals. Not the same thing. (4) Hypocrisy... oh, my my. We survived 200 years with illegal, immigrant, AND slave labor - and our country has the richest heritage of any in the world as a result. We've had slaves - both black and white. We've had immigrant labor - mostly of Irish, Italian, and German countries in the past few centuries. We've had illegals. You're acting as though, all of a sudden, a million Mexicans jumped the fence in the same week and now we have to deal with "the invasion". Look at the CIA Factbook and Census Reports, rather than spouting Conservative Nonsense. Immigration is a fact of life in America. Quit being such a crybaby snob and deal with it.

Wow! This is such an active comment board that I have to say something! People like "Tanstaafl" are the next Hitler, their opinions have no validity. And Chase, why are you bothering to say anything to Mary at all? It's obvious that you're more informed, civil, and calm about the situation than she could ever be. You can't change stupid people's minds because they'll always come back with a response that doesn't make sense.
