Borderland mayors oppose border fence

From this:
Mayors from Mexican and U.S. border cities signed a document Friday denouncing U.S. plans to build new border fences.

In the document, the mayors of Eagle Pass, Texas, and Ciudad Acuna and Piedras Negras, both in the Mexican state of Coahuila, declare the U.S.-Mexico border an area for union and solidarity — not division.

"From El Paso to Brownsville, Texas, we're against building the wall. ... That's why we're here today to support our neighbors," Eagle Pass Mayor Chad Foster said...

Even if we're generous and we assume that the mayor of Eagle Pass is not in the pocket of the narcotraficantes, why should the mayor of one border town-and his buds on the other side of the border- have any special say on matters of national security and immigration policy? Why should his opinion should be given any more weight than the opinion of any other mayor of any other similar size city anywhere in the US? And what the hell do you expect any municipal official to say beyond simply reflecting the parochial concerns of his constituents? A really stupid and pointless article even for the leftist-globalist IHT.

Obviously none of the people in these cities read any U.S. history, or they would be first in line to help build the wall. Texans were once most revered for their courage and patriotism in fighting for America. Now its just a lawless sanctuary state. Texans died in the war that established the border. I guess there is no one left with relatives who patriotically served and died in that war. Agree with Fred Dawes. There probably are no more Texans living in these border cities. For that matter, not many Americans left in Texas either. Allegiance to America is dead. Patriotism has been given the last rites. New Mexico, Arizona, California...looks the same on both sides of the border. No Americans left. Just wasteland and a crumbling facade of the former United States.

sad fact is this nation is as dead as can-be, the fence is a joke and as far as the mexican so called U.S. Border mayors go most if not all are mexican's anyway, so as far as denouncing the USA Or what i call the former USA That means nothing within 10 years the dead nation once called America will be known to all.
death to the enemies of this once great nation of laws and duty and we all had a hand in killing it becuase none stood up and said no to the drug dealers in washington, but soon the system will start to eat you and your families maybe after a few of your kids are shot down by the mexican cops inside the cities( hispanic drug dealers acting like so called law enforcement also toss in the lawyers and political people in all areas of so called government ) maybe you may understand what evil doers are, so have fun for now the day is coming when your world of liers is ending and the evil night comes to your door.

FWIW, I oppose the border fence as well, albeit for probably different reasons, e.g. because the recent example of Hazleton shows that there is a very good chance that it wouldn't be needed. Excluding the risk that 'terrorists' might make it across an unfenced border. But the risk of that could also most probably be greatly reduced by stepped up patrols along the border along with a few reasonable, needed, and long overdue changes to US policy.
