Coalition vows to defeat harsh immigration bill [HR 4437]

From this:
A U.S. coalition of business, labor unions and religious groups launched a campaign on Thursday to defeat a bill backed by Republicans that would turn some 11 million illegal immigrants into felons.

The coalition of 24 organizations, many of which rarely agree on politics or economics, denounced the bill passed by the House of Representatives last month and called on the Senate to enact legislation to include a guest worker program and a path for illegal aliens to gain legal status.

..."We are extremely disappointed with the proposal that passed the House last month," said Thomas Donohue, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce which represents some 3 million businesses...

...Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union, which has 1.8 million members, called for comprehensive reform to take control of the border and provided a way for illegal aliens to gain legal status...

...Other groups joining the coalition include associations representing builders and contractors, health care providers, the hotel and restaurant industries, Latino organizations, farm workers, the American Jewish Committee and Catholic bishops...

Although the context is somewhat different,(Muslims being collectively ideologically hostile to the West, while Mexicans are largely simply seeking economic advantage), the Dutch are showing that the ideology of self-hatred and self-destruction that reigns in Europe and North America can be reversed. The task should be easier here where all we have to deal with are greedy(but cowardly) economic interests, mendacious race-hustlers, and empty-headed do-gooders. And some of those supposedly good hearted religionists may have some crass economic motives as well, given the vast amount of federal subsidy available for "faith-based" organizations purporting to help the disadvantaged. Overall a sleazy bunch with no strength of character.

All is not gloom in Europe though. The Dutch seem to making substantial progress with the expulsion of Moslems. Official figures show 53,000 immigrants (mainly Moslems) departed over the last year from the Netherlands. This was partly due to the expulsion of 26,000 illegals (also mainly Moslems) but the remainder were immigrants legally there. Life is getting harder for Moslems in the Netherlands (and Denmark). Immigration there for Moslems is restricted now and family reunification more difficult. The Dutch are also clamping down on other liberal behaviours eg alcohol, drugs and red light zones. Apartheid in schools with separate entrances for Moslems so that they cannot enter the school and sit with the pure Dutch children is making their second class status very clear.

It is apparent that there is no substantial challenge to all this from the Moslems. Apart from a few complaints from them, there have been no adverse incidents since the death of the film maker, no riots, no suicide bombers, and no demonstrations. They are just voting with their feet and leaving the country quietly. It seems that when they feel the heavy hand of the state on their collars, they know its time to move on. I wonder where they are going?
