State officials plan to repost an edited version of a controversial guide for immigrants on its Web site, a document that was yanked after critics said it provided tips for illegal immigrants.Obviously you aren't going to make the pro-illegal immigration forces happy unless you pass out free topo maps to desert crossings. Nevertheless, I believe we can say it's possible to make everyone else happy, and that they're the only ones who count. However, based on the previous report, I doubt whether it's just 1% that's objectionable.
State Education Commissioner William Moloney said Thursday that staffers were reviewing the guide and would remove parts deemed objectionable. He didn't have any details on what would be removed but said most people agree that "99 percent" of the guide contains good information and should be available to immigrants.
"Whether you do it or you don't do it, people are going to be upset. There's no sure path to making everyone happy," Moloney said...
