"Mexican border secure, U.S. Border Patrol chief says"

Rest easy, citizen:

The Mexican border is secure, despite the hundreds of thousands who continue to cross illegally and a Sept. 11 commission warning that terrorists could be among them, the nation's top Border Patrol agent said yesterday...

See also "Illegals from terrorist nations are crossing the border into Arizona", Who's coming over our southern border?, and How many didn't get caught?

And, there's a definition of "doublethink" here.

You're either a certified dyed-in-the-wool-dingbat or a dumbass redneck. Which is it? You can tell me. I'm open minded. ANYWAY! The U.S. Border Patrol Chief never said ANYTHING against the so called volunteers who are patroling (chukle) our southern border. In fact, he was gracious for the publicity the volunteers had received. According to him, any publicity towards this problem is good news to him. All he said was that he would like the media to pay as much attention to when his officers are gunned down or are hurt during the job. That's about all he said. It was the Republican congressmen who scoffed at the possibility of volunteers having any significant impact on the problem and asked the chief to comment. The chieft specifically said that he welcomed any help from Americans because it was everyone's duty, but for safety concerns he prefered that no one used weapons, especially at nights. In some ways he was trying to say, since most of the agents are hispanic americans and most of the volunteers can't tell the difference between a hooker and their own mothers, the chief feels his pratrolmen are going to be safer by not having what amounts to a bunch of wannabee KKK noobs armed at the border. I mean, really, if what you want to do is kill Mexicans, does it matter if he's a citizen? idiots.

I cannot figure out why the big border patrol agent in charge says the Arizona 500 volunteers cannot take care of themselves. He's a bozo. Let me tell about law enforcement protection, there is little and little training. As a private citizen, I am better trained in firearms, detaining, and prepared then any of those agents. Any agent issued a 92F is a almost guarateed a grave if a gun fight breaks out. They malfunction. That one item tells me they're keystone cops who wear a heavy badge. I've been to the border right to the fence. Armed to the teeth with the best weapons and training behind me but yet the leading agents say civilians can't take care of themselves? If I see trouble on the border, I have a duty of retreat. If I am fired upon, I won't lose and it be a case of self-defense to stop a grave threat.
