Why you should boycott eBay

RuminateThis links to a scary article about eBay's "privacy" policy. Apparently, all a law enforcement agency needs in order to obtain information on you from eBay is to FAX a request, no subpoena. Just a FAX, and eBay will send your name, address, buying history, the whole enchilada. I disagree with most everything else currently on her blog, but perhaps a boycott would be in order. I think the only time I've ever used eBay was when I bought something from half.com, so this one won't be that difficult for me.

I bought a Silver Dollar from a guy on ebay. I paid and also paid extra for insurance. Ebay is totally worthless in helping the victim. Internet and wire fraud are the same and are Federal crimes. Also, stealing postal money is a Federal crime. Ebay should force felons to return money to victims. This is very simple, threaten to turn over the thiefs information to the authorities.
BOYCOTT EBAY

I HAVE ALSO BEEN SELLING ON EBAY,BUT NO MORE.I CANNOT TAKE THEIR FEE HIKES.I HAVE MOVED ALL MY ITEMS OVER TO www.hibidder.com

THAT IS WHERE ALOT OF SELLERS ARE MOVING TO.

I WILL NEVER SELL ON EBAY!

I have been robbed through ebay and will not purchase or sell on ebay again ever!!!
I think the whole operation should be shut down.

I had a laptop for sale on ebay about 2 months back and had a hacker get into somones account, bid on it, and win. I then had to file a report with ebay to have my sellers fee's reimbursed due to thier lack of security. When my claim was DENIED (that's right, not a single dime back) a creditor called me and said my account was now in collections. So I paid the creditor, so it would not hurt my credit, as I am trying to fix it. Now I need to try and get that money back from Ebay. It's feeling like im gonna be in a losing battle. F ebay!

In response to Ken O'Banion's post about eBay owning Paypal... Paypal looked like a good thing at first didn't it? Well here are some of the ramifications of that ownership. Ebay is now dictating the payments you accept for your auctions. One of the other posts mentioned ebay lining their pockets... After my experiences of the last few weeks I believe it! They keep pulling all my auctions and the reason they give is "if you accept Paypal, you have to accept all forms of Paypal and not limit your buyers". What's funny? I do accept all forms of Paypal. What they don't like is that I have both a basic and a Premier account so I don't get charged a fee on every payment made to me. I have used the same wording in my auctions for about 5 years explaining to my buyers where payment could be made and only NOW does eBay find a problem with it. When I wrote to them to complain about my listings being pulled, eBay's response was the above mentioned quote as well as some BS about " their policies not being motivated by greed". Yeah right. I bet they don't pull auctions of someone paying them thousands of bucks a month in fees. Publicly they claim that they are "nothing more than the market place where vendors have their own booths just like a physical flea market". They seem to be getting rather restrictive cosidering their shoulder-shrugging, hand-in the-air statements that they are just the venue for people to sell. I believe they are violating our rights by trying to force everyone that sells to use a Premier Paypal account. Anyone have info about a good class action lawyer?

I'm in.

I have my own reasons for refusing to do business with eBay.

By the way, did you know that eBay also owns PayPal? Consider the possible ramifications of that.

To the post about Ebay releasing information about you to law enforcement authorities without a court order:

Now, with the Patriot Act, the government can obtain information on you without a warrant and without your knowledge. To tell congress to do away with the parts of the Patriot Act that invade our privacy, go to www.aclu.org.

Unreal. Ihad two ads pulledwith no explanation for VERO (copyriht infringements) and ONE was on a music keyboard I sold. Guess you cant mention the brand name in the ad...

Ebay sux ass

sent ebay an e-mail today regarding the money i supposedly owe them. just thought everyone might enjoy this (copy/pasted):

Ask about selling or billing (for sellers only) > Billing and selling
fees > Ask about your account or billing issues

Message: dont bother emailing me a notice about my past due amount
again. i've added *!*@*.ebay.com to my e-mail block list.

if you send me something in the mail, i'll throw it away before opening
it :)

i look forward to bouncing your emails from this point on, and throwing
away your collections notices will be a pleasure! Bring them on! :)

you aren't getting paid. report it to the credit bureaus. see if i give
a fuck!

A good lesson can't be learned in a day, I say boycott ebay, for 15 to 30 days, then they will learn, not to scrw with the little people...

Yes, People should start to look around for alternate sites. The management of Ebay is only bothered about lining their own pockets with millions of shares. In order to do that they have to satisfy WALL STREET's expectations and to do that?. well, you guessed it, INCREASE their commission rates. JUST BOYCOTT EBAY FOR 6 months and you'll see how they come back to normal.

Are you angry with ebay? Do something about it...
